Matilda Rhoda Matiru was born in Nairobi, Kenya and joined the firm in May, 2020 as one of our senior Houston immigration lawyers. Rhoda is Board Certified in Immigration & Nationality Law by Texas Board of Legal Specialization and also is licensed to practice in the State of Texas. Above all, she is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and the State Bar of Texas.
Rhoda has worked for two Houston immigration law firms. The first one was a general practice where she was the head of the firm’s immigration law practice. She then worked for a boutique Houston immigration law firm in Houston where she handled the firms employment based immigration matters, removal defense and appeals. She is passionate about mentoring other Houston Immigration Lawyers and dedicates a lot of her time to this.
So with over 10 years of experience in immigration law and very compassionate, she is a valuable asset to our law firm. In addition, she has provided and continues to volunteer through various local organizations. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading, camping, gardening and also writing.
Sofia Hidalgo (Fratti) is an Immigration Attorney recently licensed in Texas, who joined our firm in March 2024. In May 2019, Sofia received her LL.M. degree in Immigration and Nationality Law from Thurgood Marshall School of Law (TMSL) with a 4.0 GPA.
Before immigrating to the United States in 2017 and coming from a family of lawyers, Sofia practiced as an Attorney licensed in El Salvador at her family’s law firm, where she specialized in administrative and constitutional law. In El Salvador, Sofia graduated as a Dean List and Magna Cum Laude student from Escuela Superior de Economía y Negocios, with a 3.6 GPA.
Prior to joining our firm, Sofia worked as a Foreign Legal Consultant for a boutique immigration law firm in Houston where she supervised the family department.
With over 5 years of experience specialized in family-based immigration and E-2 visas, Sofia provides a proactive, compassionate, and highly skilled service to our clients. Now also practicing employment-based and removal immigration, Sofia continues to dedicate herself to understanding our clients’ unique immigration journey with knowledge and empathy.
Hector M. Herrera Senior is the Manager of our firm since February 2008.
He was born in Mexico City and is fluent in English and also Spanish. He is a Public Accountant and graduated from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México. Recently he worked as a Comptroller and subsequently as General Manager at the industrial plant of Smurfit Cartón y Papel de México, S.A. (Smurfit Kappa) in Cd. Juarez, Mexico from 1985-2000. From 2000 to 2009 he worked as a Manager for the firm of Adán G. Vega & Associates, P.C.
Assistant Office Manager
Maria Rincon is the assistant office manager of the Law Offices of Herrera and Associates, PLLC. She was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela and joined our firm in October 2022. She has a degree in mass communication from the Dr. Rafael Belloso Chacin University. As assistant office manager she is in charge of the administrative part of our firm.
Maria is passionate about helping families living apart reunite so they can hug each other again just as she did when she came to the United States. As an immigrant she understands the fear and excitement that it takes to venture out to start your life over somewhere else and that is why she has a special connection with all of our clients. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
Andrea Vargas Bruno was born in Morelos, Mexico and has resided in the United Sates since 2009. She has worked for the Law Offices of Herrera & Associates, PLLC since June 2022. Her focus at the law firm is assisting the attorneys in court proceeding matters, as well as family-based petitions.
Andrea earned an Associate’s Degree at the Lonestar Community College System and is in the process of continuing her education in Psychology.
Throughout her academic and professional career, Andrea has been actively involved in her community by volunteering and donating to local events and charities. Working at the law firm has allowed Andrea to continue towards her efforts of helping others and raise awareness in the Immigrant community to ultimately obtain a legal status in the United States.
Paralegal
Anny Rivera was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela. She graduated as a Lawyer from the Dr. Rafael Belloso Chacin University in 2004. As a Lawyer in Venezuela, much of her practice was linked to Administrative Law. Anny moved to the United States in 2018 and has worked as an Immigration Law Paralegal since 2021. She joined our firm in October 2022 as one of our Paralegals, working with family-based petitions and Adjustment of Status. Her main goal and motivation is to help other immigrants like herself to obtain a Legal Status in the United States.
Laura Bruno was born in Morelos, Mexico and has lived in the United States since 2009. She graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, but her evolving interests led her to explore new opportunities, ultimately guiding her to join the Law Firm in March 2024.
Working at the law firm mainly with family-based petitions and Adjustment of Status (Legal Permanent Residence) has allowed Laura to develop an intense passion for her work. Since an early age Laura has shown a profound enthusiasm for helping others and the law firm has provided the perfect opportunity to help her fulfill this ambition. She empathizes with clients because she understands first-hand the struggles and sacrifices that many immigrants face when moving to another country. Rosibel Molina was born in Oklahoma, United States, but lived most of her life in El Salvador before permanently moving to Houston, Texas, with her husband and kids in 2022.
Rosibel is a licensed attorney in El Salvador with over 10 years of experience in corporate and intellectual property law. She also earned an MBA from a university in Madrid, Spain. Before joining our firm in 2024, Rosibel worked as a family-based immigration paralegal for 2 years at a boutique immigration firm.
Rosibel excels in her role as an immigration paralegal due to her technical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and empathy to the immigration challenges our clients are facing in the process.

María Claret Ocando was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and is a professional in the tourism industry. She arrived in the United States in 2017 and has been part of Attorney Herrera’s firm since 2023 as a legal assistant. Her main goal has always been to provide clients with the best experience and quality service.
Her objective within the firm is to offer high-quality legal services to all clients, providing them with support and guidance throughout the entire immigration process. Having personally experienced the challenges of starting over in a foreign country, she is passionate about helping others who, like her, arrived with their hopes and dreams packed in a suitcase to reunite with their families.
Among her main duties at the firm are coordinating appointments, hearings, and court dates, communicating with clients and third parties on behalf of the legal team, drafting legal documents and correspondence, among other tasks.
